New Website!

Hi folks,
I was able to raise some money with this blog. I had no idea what to do with the money, so I invested it in a new website!
I did this because I was never really happy with this blogger site. I'm not allowed to remove the ugly bloggerbar, and I don't want to be dependent on a free service with no warranties whatsoever.
So I bought a domain and webspace, then I uploaded a drupal cms and started to work on a new site.
Today I finished the biggest parts, but there is still work to do...I need to import all my old post and themes from this blog.

Here's the url to my new website:

Schwermetall-Dark-Ice

Today I saw this beautiful theme on gnome-look.org, Unfortunately the theme has still some issues (wrong font colors...), so I combined it with my Schwermetall theme and it looks very nice:

You need a firefox menubar fix to display correct menubar colors in firefox!
Download the userChrome.css and open up Nautilus and then go to View > Show Hidden Files. Then go to .mozilla/firefox/xxxxxxxx.default/chrome (x = a random set of letters and numbers).

The original Dark Ice theme was created by AnsheShem
Schwermetall is based on mockups created by Neil Patel

Schwermetall UPDATE

I created a pixmap theme a long time ago, based on these mockups:

I read in this thread on ubuntuforums.org recently about Neil Patel's upcoming gtk-engine.
When I saw his mockups again I had to update my schwermetall theme!

So, here it is:

Clearlooks-mod

Here's the default gnome theme with some modification which, I think, improve it a little bit:

Modifications:

- Tomboy notes are yellow
- The Gimp and the gnome picture viewer (EOG) have a dark appearance
- Different sizes in Nautilus toolbar.
- Glossy blue folder and glossy green arrows in the gnome icontheme.

Another Nautilus mockup

I had an idea about file browsing, so I made a mockup.

Awsome-o-tilus:

Mockup should be selfexplaining.

What I don't like about the Linux community

I don't like people who take things somebody else created and release it under their name without giving credit.
Basically these people: Mac4lin
They stitched all kind of gnome-to-apple-look stuff together and released it in a big tarball.

My gtk theme is included too. With a new name, and without this comment I made in the gtkrc file:

"# based on the OSX-theme by Lauri Taimila (lauri@taimila.com)
# created by Kimmik ( visit http://gnomestyle.blogspot.com/ )"
.

No, I'm kidding. It's not a mod of my theme, it "has been meticulously edited to make it look like Leopard".

The changes they made to my theme:

1. Change scrollbar slider a little bit
2. Added horizontal and vertical lines
3. Fucked up vertical tabs
4. Fucked up the toolbar

See for yourself.

PS: They got digged (thats why I wrote this post).
